'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range shot from distance, and the defender quickly converted the rebound before sprinting toward the crowd to mark the goal, with supporters congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This completed an incredible recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. During the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory earned a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that range," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right flank after they changed shape. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and slow down a game. You can think you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in his new home. At Orient he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a spell at League Two Salford, before he departed his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was likely a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that maturation for club and country, excelling for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including home and away fixtures against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This represents quite the ride for the kid from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his father, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's only game for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he recalls, chuckling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "It was quite easy, because I got to the stage where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I believed I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the drivers, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on public transport after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
